Dissertation Evaluation

M.A. Program
Dissertation evaluation takes place over the course of one open mid-term presentation and a final evaluation.
Students planning to graduate in February must complete their mid-term presentation and final evaluation by April and December of the preceding year, respectively. Students planning to graduate in August must complete their mid-term presentation and final evaluation by October of the preceding year and June of the same year, respectively.

Ph.D. Program

Dissertation evaluation takes place over the course of one open mid-term presentation, one preliminary evaluation, and a final evaluation.
Linguistics majors planning to graduate in February must complete their mid-term presentation and final evaluation by April and December of the preceding year, respectively. Students planning to graduate in August must complete their mid-term presentation and final evaluation by October of the preceding year and June of the same year, respectively.


Writing the Dissertation


Linguistics majors should write their dissertation in English. Literature majors may write in Korean or English. Dissertations written in Korean must include translations for all quotations.
Literature majors should follow the rules and guidelines set out in the latest edition of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers.
